In Canada, CFIA Listeria monocytogenes outbreak investigation of various brands of Ham in Jelly (Jelly Pork) leads to more recalled products

The CFIA reported that the food recall warning issued on 2024-10-16 has been updated to include additional distribution/product information. This additional information was identified during the CFIA food safety investigation. The recalled products are being removed from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. The recalling companies include Wagener’s Meat Products, Coppa’s King City, Village Bake Shop, Glogowski euro food, Staropolskie Delikatesy, Starsky Fine Foods (Hamilton, Mississauga), and Nika Deli (Welland Farmer’s Market). Update on BrucePac recalls RTE meat and poultry products due to Listeria monocytogenes

FSIS continues to work on identifying all recalled products distributed to consumers, including those purchased by schools. A preliminary list of schools that received products, including BrucePac recalled ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry, has been added. FSIS will update this and the retail product list as more information is received. The release is being reissued as an expansion of the October 9, 2024, recall to include additional products and production dates. Details of this release were updated to note the addition of 1,779,040 pounds of product subject to recall, increasing the weight from 9,986,245 to 11,765,285 pounds. This recall release has also been updated to reflect that recalled products were distributed to schools. Update on outbreak Investigation of Salmonella: Eggs

The FDA and CDC assisted state and local partners from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection and Wisconsin Department of Health Services in an investigation of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to eggs supplied by Milo’s Poultry Farms, LLC of Bonduel, Wisconsin (WI). On October 17, 2024, the FDA updated its investigation of Salmonella in eggs and reported that all eggs are past expiration and should no longer be available for sale. The recall covered all expiration dates for the following eggs. All carton sizes and all egg types are labeled with “Milo’s Poultry Farms” and all carton sizes of “Tony’s Fresh Market” branded eggs. All carton sizes of duck eggs branded as “Happy Quackers Farm.” All cases and expiration dates of all eggs for retail food service distribution (this includes M&E branded eggs). At this time, all recalled eggs should be off the market and beyond shelf life. Investigations of Foodborne Illness Outbreaks update October 17, 2024

Foodborne illnesses and outbreak update of October 17, 2024: the list of illnesses and outbreaks includes eight activities. A new outbreak of Salmonella Thompson (ref #1262) linked to a product that has not yet been identified has been added to the table. FDA has initiated traceback. The outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis linked to eggs (ref #1250), the advisory was updated on October 17, 2024. The outbreak has ended, and the FDA’s investigation is closed. The outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 was linked to a product that had not yet been identified (ref #1249), and the case count increased from 27 to 28 cases. The outbreak of Salmonella Newport was linked to a product that was not identified (ref #1248), and the case count increased from 7 to 9 cases. The outbreak has ended, and the FDA’s investigation is closed. The outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium was linked to a product that had not yet been identified (ref #1234), so the outbreak has ended.
