Update on Yu Shang Food, Inc. Recall of Ready-To-Eat Meat and Poultry products due to Listeria

On November 21, 2024, the USDA FSIS issued an update on the Yu Shang Food, Inc. recall (Spartanburg, SC). The company extended its recall from November 9, 2024, and now it recalls approximately 72,240 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products within their shelf life that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. All ready-to-eat products produced before October 28, 2024, are subject to recall. The problem was discovered after FSIS performed routine testing and follow-up activities on the finished product Yu Shang Food, Inc. produced on October 21, 2024, which confirmed the product was positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Additional testing confirmed that Listeria monocytogenes was detected in product and environmental samples collected by FSIS. Whole genome sequencing is underway to determine if these samples match the outbreak strain. Working with public health partners, FSIS determined a link between the RTE meat and poultry products from Yu Shang Food, Inc. and an illness cluster. @ https://www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls-alerts/yu-shang-food-inc--recalls-ready-eat-meat-and-poultry-products-due-possible-0
