The outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1392) linked to an unidentified product; the case count has been adjusted from 115 to 172. This incident now includes additional illnesses based on similarities in reported exposures. Following the outbreak of Salmonella Javiana (ref #1395) linked to jalapeño peppers, the FDA updated the outbreak advisory on August 10, 2026, with information about recalled jalapeño peppers. The advisory includes information on multiple products containing recalled jalapeños. Recalled products were distributed to retail distribution centers in the following states: AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NE, NH, NY, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, VT, WI, WV with a “Best If Used By” date up to and including August 16, 2026. Stores that received recalled products include Hannaford, Kroger, Stop and Shop, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and Whole Foods. Taylor Fresh Foods is no longer sourcing products from this farmer and will be filling orders from alternative suppliers. The USDA/FSIS also issued a public health alert for meat and poultry products containing FDA-regulated jalapeños that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The outbreak of Cyclospora (ref #1390) linked to iceberg lettuce: the FDA updated the outbreak advisory on August 5, 2026, with case count information. FDA initiated an inspection. The advisory states that the total case count associated with this multistate outbreak is now 6,358 illnesses reported from 15 states. This includes the addition of 6 states since the last update: Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. For the Cyclospora outbreak (ref #1385) linked to an unidentified product, the FDA has initiated sampling. For the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak (ref #1387) linked to an unidentified product, the case count increased from 93 to 97.
