The CFIA and Importations Pie Che Dolci Inc. (Laval, Quebec) issued a voluntary recall of Sweet Cream-brand Mini Patisserie due to potential Salmonella contamination. The CFIA shared new details regarding the recent recall of the Sweet Cream brand Mini Pattiserie due to possible salmonella concerns. According to a Jan. 19 update, 17 people were hospitalized, and there have been 61 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella linked to the outbreak. Of the confirmed cases, 33 were in Quebec, 21 in Ontario, 4 in British Columbia, 2 in Alberta, and 1 in New Brunswick. People became ill between September 2024 and mid-December 2024. No deaths have yet been reported. Many of those who became ill reported to investigators that they ate mini pastries at catered events or other places where the impacted products were served. The Public Health Agency of Canada estimates that nearly 1,600 people may have been infected with Salmonella due to the mini pastries recall. People became sick between late September 2024 and mid-December 2024. Additional illnesses may still be reported as there is often a delay between the onset of illness and when the illness is reported to health authorities. It is also possible that many people who became ill then recovered and did not report their illness. The affected products were distributed to a variety of businesses and organizations, including bakeries, hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, and retirement residences, and may have also been served at catered events. @ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/mini-pastries-salmonella-infections-1.7436689
