The CDC reports on the Listeria outbreak linked to meats sliced at delis

The CDC reported that the outbreak had 43 illnesses associated with it, 43 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths in 13 States (GA-2, IL-1, IN-1, MA-3, MD-8, MN-1MO-3, NC-1, NJ-4, NY-14, PA-1, VA-3, and WI-1). Epidemiologic, laboratory, and traceback data show that meats sliced at delis, including Boar’s Head brand liverwurst, are contaminated with Listeria and are the cause of the illnesses. Products sold at the deli, especially those sliced or prepared at the deli, can be contaminated with Listeria. Listeria spreads easily among deli equipment, surfaces, hands, and food. Refrigeration does not kill Listeria. The recalled products include products produced between June 11, 2024, and July 17, 2024, with a 44-day shelf-life. Boar’s Head Strassburger Brand Liverwurst was made in Virginia. The products are packaged in 3.5 pound loaves in plastic casings or various weight packages sliced in retail delis. Sell-by dates range from July 25, 2024, to August 30, 2024. Boar’s Head also recalled all deli products, including prepackaged deli products, that were in shelf life from this establishment. @  https://www.cdc.gov/listeria/outbreaks/delimeats-7-24/index.html
