In the UK, the Happy Pear recalled hummus products due to contamination with animal matter

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an alert that The Happy Pear company is recalling products because they may contain animal matter. The possible presence of animal matter may make this product unsafe to consume. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores selling these products. Brothers Steve and Dave Flynn from Greystones, Co Wicklow, own the Happy Pear. The chickpeas used in the products are subject to recall due to the “possible presence of animal matter” in the product. The products recalled include 150g packs of The Happy Pear Red Pepper Hummus, Reduced Fat Hummus, Caramelized Onion Hummus and Moroccan Hummus, and Triple dip Hummus in 180 g packages. The food products were available for sale from SuperValu, Centra, and several stores, including dips, soups, ready meals, snacks, and other plant-based vegetarian and vegan goods. Happy Pear works closely with the chickpea supplier, stockists, and food safety authorities. @ https://www.food.gov.uk/news-alerts/alert/fsa-prin-47-2024
