Yumbah Aquaculture Ltd is conducting a recall of Yumbah Australian Greenlip Abalone 1kg. The product has been available for sale in independent retailers in NSW. The recall is due to biotoxin (Brevetoxin) contamination. Biotoxin is a natural marine neurotoxin produced by algae that causes Neurotoxic Shellfish Poisoning (NSP) when humans eat contaminated seafood. Yumbah Aquaculture has decided to close its abalone farming facility on Kangaroo Island (KI), located in South Australia. The presence of Brevetoxin has affected the company's ability to harvest abalone, as well as fish survival and growth. Altogether, this has "significantly" reduced the existing biomass. @ https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/food-recalls/recall-alert/yumbah-aquaculture-ltd-yumbah-australian-greenlip-abalone-1kg
