In Ada, Idaho, raw milk contaminated with E. coli caused an outbreak sickening 9 people, including 2 children

The Central District Health (CDH) of Idaho is investigating serious illnesses in 9 Ada County residents linked to the consumption of raw (unpasteurized) milk. Of the 9 people sick, two are children hospitalized with severe complications. All cases reported consuming raw milk, a known risk factor for foodborne illnesses. Several illnesses have been confirmed as STEC. Two children are suffering from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which can lead to kidney failure. The cases have been linked to raw cow milk products from R Bar H, which has removed its products from stores and suspended production.
