FDA cautions against feeding pets with Darwin’s Natural Selections pet food due to Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes

The FDA cautioned pet owners that samples of five Darwin’s Natural Pet Products raw cat and dog food made by Arrow Reliance, Inc. tested positive for Salmonella, and a sixth FDA sample tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes (LM). The products were sold in frozen 2-pound packages with four separate units. The dog food has blue labeling, and the cat food has blue and green labeling. The FDA recommended that Arrow Reliance, Inc. recall all six lots of products. To date, the firm has not recalled the affected products. Therefore, the FDA advises consumers to keep checking Darwin’s Natural Selection Antibiotic & Grain-Free products for the affected lot numbers before feeding to pets. Pet food contaminated with Salmonella and LM is a public health problem because it can affect humans and pets. Once these bacteria get established in the intestinal tract, the pets can shed them into the environment. @ https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/outbreaks-and-advisories/fda-advisory-do-not-feed-certain-lots-darwins-natural-selections-pet-food-due-salmonella-and?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
