Core update as of January 29, 2026

The CORE update list of outbreaks and adverse events includes six event postings. The outbreak of infant botulism (ref #1350) linked to infant formula, the outbreak advisory was updated on January 23, 2026, to include investigational updates. No new cases have been added to the investigation since December 10, 2025. As of January 23, 2026, two samples collected by the FDA tested positive for Clostridium botulinum (toxin), Type A. WGS analysis showed that the Clostridium botulinum found in the sample of organic whole milk powder is a genetic match to the Clostridium botulinum detected in the finished product sample of ByHeart’s infant formula. The outbreak caused 51 illnesses and 51 hospitalizations. States with cases: AZ, CA, ID, IL, KY, MA, ME, MI, MN, NC, NJ, OH, OR, PA, RI, TX, VA, WA, and WI.
