CDC Plans to Increase use of Whole genome Sequencing in Foodborne Illness

CDC announced that it is expanding its use of Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) to 38 states and two cities. By the end of fiscal 2017, six health departments successfully implemented WGS. The WGS allows to differentiate between closely related organisms allows outbreaks to be detected with fewer clinical cases and can help stop outbreaks sooner. @ is the online community for North American beef, pork and poultry processors.
