Cargill Meat Solutions’ Ground Beef Recall Due to E. coli O157:H7 causes recall at Albertsons, Safeway, Pak ‘N Save, and Vons

The Cargill Meat Solutions Class 1 recall of approximately 25,288 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, cause a recall at Albertsons, Safeway, Pak ‘N Save, and Vons stores in seven states (Northern California, Colorado, Nebraska, Northern Nevada, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Wyoming). The recalled products include some products that were not made with Cargill beef but were prepared in close proximity to the recalled Cargill beef. The recalled products were sold between August 20 and August 23. Cargill discovered the problem on August 22 after routine testing and a review of their records determined that certain beef products may be associated with a presumptive positive for E. coli O157:H7. To dat,e there have been no confirmed reports of illness associated with the consumption of Cargill products or products sold at Albertsons, Safeway, Pak ‘N Save or Vons stores.
