The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections in multiple states, linked to large brown cage-free "sunshine/omega-3 golden" yolk eggs sourced from Country Eggs, LLC, of Lucerne Valley, CA. Based on epidemiological information collected by the CDC, a total of 95 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 14 states (AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, IA, MN, NC, NE, NM, NV, NY, PA, and WA). Illnesses started on dates ranging from January 7, 2025, to July 26, 2025. 33 of 36 ill persons with information available reported exposure to eggs or an egg-containing dish before becoming ill. There have been 18 hospitalizations, and no deaths have been reported. As part of this investigation, the FDA conducted a traceback based on where ill people reported shopping or eating eggs or egg-containing dishes during the timeframe of interest, and Country Eggs, LLC, was identified as a common supplier. In response to this investigation, Country Eggs, LLC agreed to recall large brown cage free "sunshine/omega-3 golden" yolk eggs under the brand names Nagatoshi Produce, Misuho, Nijiya Markets, and Country Eggs that could potentially be in people's homes. @ https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/outbreak-investigation-salmonella-eggs-august-2025
