The CDC reported on Salmonella outbreak linked to Backyard Poultry

The CDC reported that Public health officials are investigating multistate outbreaks of Salmonella illnesses linked to contact with backyard poultry. Any backyard poultry can carry Salmonella. The CDC and public health officials in several states are collecting different types of data to investigate multistate outbreaks of Salmonella Anatum, Cerro, Enteritidis, Indiana, Johannesburg, London, and Mbandaka infections. Epidemiologic, traceback, and laboratory data show that contact with backyard poultry is making people sick. The new data shows that a total of 249 people, 93 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths (1 additional death from Pennsylvania), and 3 new Salmonella serotypes have been added to the investigation. 47 states reported illnesses.  @ https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/outbreaks/mbandaka-05-01/investigation.html
