Woolworths recalled products, including its Chicken Cobb Salad and Chickpea Falafel Salad. Aldi recalls packets of Fresh Salad Co Fresh and Fast Stir Fry with a use-by date of December 24. The product was available for sale in Victorian Aldi stores. The recall is due to Riviera Farms branded baby spinach, sold at Costco stores in Victoria, New South Wales, and the ACT. Packets of Riviera Farms branded baby spinach with use-by dates between December 16 and 28 are also being recalled. Food Standards Australia New Zealand Australian (FSANZ) recalled spinach which causes delirium and hallucinations, has affected more than 190 people across Australia. FSANZ recalled the spinach contaminated with unsafe weed, thought to be from a farm in Victoria. Symptoms can be severe and include delirium or confusion, hallucinations, dilated pupils, rapid heartbeat, flushed face, blurred vision, dry mouth and skin, and a fever. People are urged to check and dump recalled products sold at Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, and Costco. The supplier works collaboratively with Victorian Government authorities to understand how the contamination occurred. As of 18 December 2022, over 190 potential cases have been reported across New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, and Queensland. Investigations suggest that all affected products stem from a single plant source. The Victorian grower at the center of the recall, Riviera Farms, said testing was underway on weed plants “which can have health consequences if consumed.” @ https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/industry/foodrecalls/recalls/Pages/Baby-spinach-recall.aspx
