The CDC has updated information on the Salmonella outbreak Linked to Backyard Poultry

The CDC reported that Public health officials are investigating multistate outbreaks of Salmonella illnesses linked to contact with backyard poultry. Since the CDC’s previous update on May 5, 2025, the CDC has confirmed 97 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 104. Twenty-five of the outbreak patients required hospitalization, and one patient died in Illinois. The number of affected states rose from 6 to 35. Pennsylvania has reported the most cases (14), followed by Colorado (9), Tennessee (8), Illinois (7), and Virginia (6). Illness-onset dates range from February 9 to May 3. All but 8% of patients are White, and 52% are male. The CDC said that the outbreak strains have been linked to two hatcheries. Supreme Service Solutions LLC recalled Supreme Vegetable Products due to Salmonella

The FDA reported that Supreme Service Solutions LLC. (dba Supreme Produce) recalled items purchased from Bedner Growers Inc.(purchased from Kroger and its affiliates ) due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The recalled cucumbers were sold to a wholesale distributor, which has been directed to contact its customers with recall instructions. The potential contamination was discovered by Bedner Browers, Inc., who initiated their recall after the US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) notified Bedner Browers, Inc. that the cucumbers had been linked by the FDA to a Salmonella outbreak that resulted in 26 illnesses in AL, CA, CO, FL, IL, KS, KY, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, and VA. The recalled produce was distributed to Kroger and its affiliated retail stores located in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas, and Michigan. Products are packaged in clear-plastic grab-n-go containers of various sizes with the appearance of cut produce. In Australia, the Food Standards Agency reported that a2 Milk Company Pty Ltd is conducting a recall of Light Milk due to Listeria

According to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ), a recall has been issued for a2 Light Milk (2L) in Western Australia due to potential Listeria contamination. The recalled milk has a use-by date of 06/06 #41 and was sold at major supermarkets, including Aldi, Coles, and Woolworths, in Western Australia. The a2 Milk Company has issued a recall for its two-liter a2 Light Milk variety after routine testing detected potential microbial contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. @
