The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), in collaboration with Supermarché Épilys (9204 Pie-IX Boulevard in Montreal), issued a food safety notice to the public not to consume the lean ground beef, as this food may contain the Shiga toxin producing E. coli (STEC). The product was offered for sale only at the establishment designated above. It was packaged in a polystyrene tray covered with plastic film. It was sold refrigerated. It should be noted that properly cooking meat destroys STEC. According to MAPAQ, no illnesses have been reported so far. However, eating food contaminated with shiga toxin-producing E. coli can cause serious health issues. @ https://www.quebec.ca/nouvelles/actualites/details/avis-de-ne-pas-consommer-de-boeuf-hache-maigre-vendu-par-lentreprise-supermarche-epilys-64410
