In Montreal, MAPAQ issued a warning not to consume spicy marinated eggplant by Moabi Gourmet due to Clostridium botulinum

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ), in collaboration with the Food Inspection Division of the City of Montreal and Moabi Gourmet (551 Jeanne-d'Arc Avenue, in Montreal), is warning the public not to consume the product listed in the table below because it has not been prepared and packaged in a way that ensures its safety. This product could promote the proliferation of Clostridium botulinum. The product was offered for sale until the end of December 2024 by Moabi Gourmet. The product was packaged in a glass jar with a metal lid. It was sold at room temperature. The product label included, in addition to its name, the words "EBONY." It has agreed with the Ministry and the City of Montreal's Food Inspection Division to issue this warning as a precautionary measure.
