In Denmark, an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes from fish cake sickened and hospitalized five

SSI, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, and the DTU National Food Institute initiated a recall of fish cakes after five people fell ill with the same type of Listeria monocytogenes in fish cakes. The SSI reported that the source of the infection is ready-to-eat fish cakes. Tenax Sild A/S has recalled fish cakes after Listeria was found in them. The patients are aged 70-95, three are women, and two are men. All patients have been hospitalized. Bacteria from patients and samples of fish cakes from the manufacturer have been compared, and found that the bacteria are entirely identical, indicating that the product is the source of the contamination. Tenax Sild A/S, which produced the fish cakes, has recalled several variants of the product, and the company has initiated measures to avoid Listeria in production. The products are sold in supermarkets across the country. @ https://www.ssi.dk/aktuelt/nyheder/2025/nyt-sygdomsudbrud-med-listeria-fra-fiskefrikadeller
