In Canada, CFIA updated the Andalos pastry products recalled due to Salmonella

The CFIA had expanded the multi-province food recall warning issued on 2025-08-15 on pistachios and pistachio-containing products linked to a Salmonella outbreak that has caused multiple hospitalizations. This additional information was identified during the CFIA food safety investigation. The Public Health Agency of Canada reports that there are now 62 laboratory-confirmed cases (5 in British Columbia, one in Manitoba, 11 in Ontario, and 45 in Quebec), up from 52 reported on Aug. 5. Ten of the patients have required hospitalization. In the Canadian outbreak, there are three serotypes of Salmonella (Salmonella Havana, Salmonella Mbandaka, and Salmonella Meleagridis). Affected products from the Andalos brand include several kinds of baklavas along with knafeh, qatayef, znoud el sit, and cheaibiyet pastry products. The food recall warning issued on 2025-08-15 has been updated to include additional distribution information. This additional information was identified during the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s food safety investigation.
