Core update as of September 05, 2025

The CORE update list of outbreaks and adverse events includes ten postings. A new outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes (ref #1309) linked to an unidentified product has been added to the table. FDA’s investigation is ongoing. The outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis (ref #1329) has resulted in an increase in case count from 31 to 34 cases. The FDA has initiated a traceback and an onsite inspection. The outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis (ref #1325) linked to an unidentified product has prompted the FDA to initiate an onsite inspection. An outbreak advisory was issued for the outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis (ref #1301) infections linked to eggs. On August 28, 2025, Country Eggs, LLC initiated a recall for specific lots of brown cage free eggs. A total of 95 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 14 states (AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, IA, MN, NC, NE, NM, NV, NY, PA, and WA). 18 people were hospitalized. @ https://www.fda.gov/food/outbreaks-foodborne-illness/investigations-foodborne-illness-outbreaks?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
