Update on the outbreak investigation of Salmonella in Moringa Leaf Powder (October 2025)

The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, investigated illnesses in a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Richmond infections linked to a single lot (Batch No.: VFD/ORG/MORP/L/24 with the best by date (BBD) of November 2027) of moringa leaf powder supplied to the United States by Vallon Farmdirect PVT LTD of Johdpur, India. As of December 4, 2025, the CDC has declared the outbreak to be over. A total of 11 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella were reported from 7 states (FL, KS, MI, NY, NC, SC, and VA). Illnesses started on dates ranging from May 12, 2025, to September 4, 2025. Of 11 people with information available, 3 were hospitalized. No deaths were reported. The recalled product should no longer be on the market for sale; however, this product has a long shelf life.
