The CDC, FDA, and public health officials in several states are investigating a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections linked to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in 5 states. Taylor Farms de Mexico is voluntarily removing all shredded iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico. Taylor Farms also informed the FDA that it would initiate a recall. The outbreak involved 1,644 cases and 94 hospitalizations across 5 states (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia). CDC asked the public not to eat food items containing shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms de Mexico, served at Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. CDC is also investigating other cyclosporiasis outbreaks and illnesses nationally that are unrelated to this outbreak.
