The Ambriola Company issued a recall of cheese products due to Listeria monocytogenes

The Ambriola Company (West Camden, NJ) is recalling select cheese products after routine testing confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Products affected include: Primarily grated Pecorino Romano cheese sold under various names, including Ambriola, Locatelli, Member's Mark, Pinna, and Boar's Head. The 20 states where the cheese was distributed include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. The affected products were distributed to retail stores and distributors nationwide between November 3, 2025, and November 20, 2025. Several Pecorino Romano cheese products that were voluntarily recalled in November due to possible Listeria contamination have now been reclassified by the FDA to the highest hazard level. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is also recalling additional cheese products processed at the same facility in West Caldwell, New Jersey. No illnesses have been reported to date. That said, customers who have symptoms of listeria infection should contact their healthcare provider. Ambriola has suspended production and distribution of affected products as the company conducts a review of all sanitation and food safety procedures. In a January 6 enforcement report, the FDA updated a prior November 21, 2025, voluntary recall issued by the Ambriola Company to a Class 1 designation. @ https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/ambriola-company-issues-recall-cheese-products-because-listeria-health-risk?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery
