Israel’s chocolate maker Strauss knew about the Salmonella outbreak in its products a week before product recall

The Israeli chocolate maker Strauss (one of Israel’s largest food manufacturers )found salmonella in raw chocolate used for some of the company’s products on the eve of Passover and notified the Israeli Health Ministry but waited almost a week before alerting the public. The products being recalled belonging to its “Elite” line of chocolate snacks include the famous Shokolad Para, Pesek Zman, Egozi, Kif Kef candy bars, Energy chocolate-coated crackers, and Bonbonniere candy boxes, among others. Strauss announced that the production of the various chocolate products in the factory was immediately halted. Products manufactured in the vicinity of the discovery of salmonella were blocked from distribution. Strauss doesn’t know how many, or if any, contaminated products were sold to customers. More poppy seeds recalled in Canada due to Salmonella concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) keeps expanding its recall of various organic poppy seeds due to possible salmonella contamination. Other brands were added to the original poppy seed recall on April 15, and the Inari brand recall on April 12. The recall covers GPE brand name organic poppy seeds in five kilogram packages sold in Ontario and Saskatchewan. The recalled products also include the following brands: Grain Process Enterprises Ltd., Johnvince Foods, Healthy Planet, and Natural Food Pantry, as well select organic poppy seeds without a brand name that were sold in bulk are also being recalled. The affected products were sold between March 2020 and April 2022 at different locations in Ontario and Saskatchewan. T Fresh Company recalled 7.5oz Yes! Enoki Mushrooms Due to Listeria monocytogenes

The FDA reported that T Fresh Company (City of Industry, CA) is recalling its 7.5oz (200g) enoki mushrooms, Lot #6021053, grown in China because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Lot #6021053 was distributed from California and Texas to retail stores through produce distributors. The potential for contamination was discovered after surveillance sampling by the CDPH revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the 7.05oz (200g) packages of enoki mushroom. The product is packaged in a Light Blue & transparent plastic packaging, with ” Yes” Logo for the 200g(7.5oz). The distribution of the product has been suspended. No infections or illnesses have been reported or confirmed. Enoki is repeatedly contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Bakkavor USA recalled from Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal due to Listeria monocytogenes

The FDA reported that Bakkavor USA (Charlotte, North Carolina) recalled from the Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal, which includes Pickled Curry Cauliflower, an ingredient produced by Doux South Specialties, LLC because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal was sold in 12 oz plastic trays. The product was distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY. No illnesses have been reported to date. On April 19th, 2022, Bakkavor USA was informed by Doux South Specialties; LLC of their Pickled Curry Cauliflower was recalled. Bakkavor USA immediately ceased the production and distribution of the Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal containing the Pickled Curry Cauliflower.
