Safeway Fresh Foods recalled Quick Chek Apple and Peanut Butter Snack Trays due to the JIF Peanut Butter contamination with Salmonella

The FDA reported that Safeway Fresh Foods (dba Sunnyside Fresh) of Vineland, New Jersey, recalled Quick Chek branded Apple and Peanut Butter Snack trays sold in New Jersey because the JIF peanut butter portion has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported to date. More Jif peanut butter recalls: Albanese Confectionery Group recalls select products

The FDA reported that Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. (Merrillville, Indiana) recalled Albanese® Mini and Giant Peanut Butter Cups because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This recall directly results from the J.M. Smucker Co. Jif® Peanut Butter recall.  The products were not manufactured onsite at Albanese Confectionery Group, Inc. No illnesses have been reported. The products were distributed nationwide and reached consumers through select retail stores. Investigation of Hepatitis A outbreak in strawberries (May 2022)

The FDA, along with CDC, the Public Health Agency of Canada and, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, state and local partners, are investigating a multistate outbreak of hepatitis A infections in the United States and Canada potentially linked to fresh organic strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB, purchased between March 5, 2022, and April 25, 2022. The investigation includes 17 illnesses and 12 hospitalizations in 3 states (CA (15), MN (1), ND (1)). Canada also has cases in Alberta (4) and Saskatchewan (6). Traceback data show the potential link with FreshKampo and HEB brands purchased between March 5 and April 25. Currently, the potentially affected FreshKampo and HEB products are past shelf life. These products were sold at the following retailers such as Aldi, HEB, Kroger, Safeway, Sprouts Farmers Market, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Weis Markets, and WinCo Foods. FSIS issues public health alert for Ready-to-Eat Salads containing peanut butter due to Salmonella

The USDA/FSIS issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat (RTE) salad products (A G SPECIALTY FOODS, Happy valey OR) containing JM Smucker products due to potential Salmonella contamination. The salad products were produced between 5/11/2022 and 5/23/2022. They are in 14.5-oz. plastic clamshell containers labeled “Super Asian Chicken Salad” with a “Best Thru” date of 05/16 through 06/03. These items were distributed to an Amazon Go retail location in Washington. The problem was discovered when the establishment notified FSIS that the salad dressing component of the RTE salad product was formulated with peanut butter that had been recalled.
