In Tennessee, the Hamilton County Health Department linked the 2026 E. coli spike to raw milk

As of February 17, 2026, the Hamilton County Health Department in Tennessee has reported an unexpected increase in Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) cases linked to the consumption of raw milk. The outbreak resulted in at least 9 illnesses and 2 hospitalizations from Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS).
