In Quebec, safety is not guaranteed for the Bolognese sauce prepared and sold by Palais du fin gourmet (Piccolo Foods)

MAPAQ, in collaboration with Palais du fin gourmet (1998 Curé-Labelle Boulevard in Laval), advises the public not to consume Bolognese sauce because it has not been prepared or packaged to ensure its safety. This product could promote the growth of Clostridium botulinum. The product was offered for sale until July 29, 2026, in various establishments in Quebec. The product was packaged in a 700 ml clear glass jar with a black lid and was sold at room temperature. Palais du fin gourmet is voluntarily recalling the product and has agreed with the Ministry to issue this warning as a precautionary measure. Anyone in possession of this product is advised not to consume it. Food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum toxin can cause the following symptoms when ingested: facial paralysis, unresponsive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, and vision and speech disturbances. In severe cases, the illness can be fatal. @ https://www.quebec.ca/nouvelles/actualites/details/mise-en-garde-a-la-population-innocuite-non-assuree-de-la-sauce-bolognaise-preparee-et-vendue-par-lentreprise-palais-du-fin-gourmet-les-aliments-piccolo-72112
