In Canada, the outbreak of E. coli linked to Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops has ended

On December 21, 2025, the Public Health Agency of Canada reported that a food recall warning was issued for Pillsbury Pizza Pops. Another food recall warning was issued on January 25, 2026, recalling additional varieties of Pizza Pops. The Public Health Agency of Canada has closed its investigation into the E. coli O26:H11 outbreak linked to Pillsbury brand Pizza Pops as of March 19, 2026. The outbreak, which began in late 2025, resulted in 30 confirmed cases across seven provinces (one lab-confirmed case was recorded in Newfoundland and Labrador, four in British Columbia, 12 in Alberta, six in Saskatchewan, three in Ontario, and two in New Brunswick), eight hospitalizations, and no deaths. Recalled products included various flavors, such as pepperoni and bacon. One additional Canadian has been confirmed to be ill, and one more has been hospitalized due to an E. coli outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada issued a final outbreak notice on Thursday, March 19, declaring the outbreak investigation closed. People became sick between early October 2025 and early January 2026. Of the reported cases, 8 people have been hospitalized, and there have been no deaths. The recalled pizza pops were sold at Costco, Walmart, Giant Tiger, Metro, Food Basics, Sobeys, Foodland, FreshCo, Safeway, IGA, and Thrifty Foods stores in Canada. Recalled pizza pops were also available through Amazon. Pillsbury Pizza Pops products appear to be sold at Loblaw stores, including No Frills, in Canada. @
