Core update as of November 26, 2025

The CORE update list of outbreaks and adverse events includes nine postings. The outbreak of infant botulism (ref #1350) linked to infant formula prompted updates to the outbreak advisory on November 20, 2025, and November 26, 2025, to include additional investigation information. As of November 26, 2025, a total of 37 infants with suspected or confirmed infant botulism and confirmed exposure to ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula have been reported from 17 states. For the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes (ref #1309), the case count has been adjusted from 26 to 27. The following investigations are currently closed: the outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg (ref #1328) linked to sprouts, and the FDA’s investigation is closed. Based on the CDC’s epidemiological investigation, ill people reported eating sprouts before becoming sick. All samples collected as part of the investigation were reported as negative for Salmonella. Once investigators had enough information to confirm sprouts as the source of the outbreak, the outbreak was no longer considered ongoing, and sprouts were past their shelf life and unavailable for sale. This outbreak is over, and there is no ongoing risk to public health. The outbreak of Salmonella Anatum (ref #1312) linked to sprouted beans, the FDA’s investigation is closed. The outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis (ref# 1301) linked to eggs, the FDA’s investigation is closed. Based on epidemiological information collected by the CDC, a total of 105 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 14 states.
