The CORE update lists four outbreak and adverse event postings. The outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium (ref #1377) linked to moringa leaf powder prompted the FDA to issue an outbreak advisory and initiate an inspection. This is a new outbreak, and this investigation is separate from previous outbreaks of Salmonella Newport & Kentucky and Salmonella Typhimurium & Newport, both linked to moringa powder. Based on epidemiological information collected by the CDC, a total of 18 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported from 14 states. Illnesses started on dates ranging from February 3, 2026, to April 7, 2026. Of the eight people interviewed, six (75%) reported taking moringa powder capsules, including four who reported taking MOGO-brand capsules. There have been 7 hospitalizations, with no deaths reported. The outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium & Newport (ref #1358) linked to moringa leaf powder, CDC has reopened its investigation after additional illnesses were reported. The outbreak is ongoing, and the FDA updated the outbreak advisory on 5/27/2026 to include a recall of new products. Since the investigation was closed on March 17, 2026, 22 new illnesses from 4 states have been reported. The investigation has since been reopened, and as of May 27, 2026, a total of 119 people infected with one of the outbreak strains of Salmonella have been reported from 36 states since the investigation began. The outbreak of Clostridium botulinum (ref #1350) linked to infant formula, the Executive Summary abstract can now be accessed. Epidemiological, laboratory, and traceback activity findings indicate that consumption of ByHeart powdered infant formula resulted in a multistate infant botulism outbreak. Even though several hypotheses have been proposed, the investigation has not identified the source or root cause of contamination in the powdered infant formula. As of 2/26/2026, this cluster included 48 cases in 17 States.
