The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) issued a reminder to the public about the potential dangers of consuming raw milk after at least eleven people were recently sickened by raw milk contaminated with Campylobacter. IDPH has so far identified an outbreak of eleven cases of Campylobacter infection that appear to be linked to consumption of raw milk from a common source; the producer is taking steps to notify customers. The source of the raw milk is unnamed. The Illinois raw milk rules require testing for temperature, antibiotics, and certain indicators of infection in the product. However, specific pathogen testing for microorganisms, such as Campylobacter or other disease-causing bacteria like E. coli or Salmonella, is not required. @ https://dph.illinois.gov/resource-center/news/2025/november/release-20251107.html
